At 38 weeks pregnant, with just two weeks until the baby's due date to go, there is light at the end of the tunnel! Two weeks left of course means she might come later tonight, she might come in three weeks. It's really up to the baby (and my uterus) at this point. I'm as ready as I will ever be, and equally unprepared since I know I have no idea what to really expect.
Would anyone care to take a guess at the baby's arrival date and/or time?! Put it in the comments below! I'm going with Super Bowl Sunday, for no particular reason whatsoever. Mostly because that means we'll get (most of) another weekend just the two of us before baby makes three!
I read this article in an online blog on Momformation the other day, about feeling like you're carrying a huge baby. It really sums up how I am feeling at this point to a T! The whole paragraph about thinking the baby weighs about 20 pounds, 200 ounces really nails it. Fingers crossed that our girl is not as big as she seems to me!
And now your weekly baby update:
Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
Thanks for following along everyone, and stay tuned!
I think she'll be born on February 9th and share a birthday with my big brother!

I have been thinking Feb 7. 4 days after her mama's birthday, she will have something in common with someone else we know! xx
ReplyDeleteI don't have a strong feeling about a particular date, but I do have a strong feeling that she will be beautiful and it will be wonderful to see her.
ReplyDeleteI think Feb. 15th is the perfect date. My little brother's birthday.
ReplyDeleteI am betting whenever she gets here, it will be before March 28, my birthday.
Pretty amazing, from 2 independant strings of chromosome will be born a little girl with eyes, fingers, toes, lungs, ears, nose and be a combo of Kelly and Jan. Too cool.
I just know that she will ski/snowboard her way into the Olympics.
Dad
I think that she'll be fashionably late - February 18th. But if she comes on the 16th, she'll be lucky enough to share a birthday with Brian. I can't wait to meet her!
ReplyDeleteXOXO, V
I was going to say the 11th, but then she'd share a birthday with a policatal figure I do not care for...so I'll go with the 12th - she'd share the day with Judy Blume. No matter when she arrives, she'll own the day.
ReplyDeleteI loved Gene and Marsha's comments - very well-said! I'm going to make a guess for Feb. 6, at 5am. I'm guessing Sweet Koorn's weight will be 7 lbs. 6 oz., judging from the pictures I've seen and Jan's weight at birth which was 9 lbs. 10oz. Loved Katy's pictures of you three on Facebook!
ReplyDeleteC'mon, lucky 9!
